Dreadnought Explorer Scouts — Ages 14 to 18
Explorer Scouts are young adults who take charge of their own programme, plan their own adventures, and develop into confident, capable people.
What We Do
- Self-led expeditions and high-adventure activities
- Duke of Edinburgh’s Award — Bronze, Silver, and Gold
- Advanced water activities and RYA qualifications
- Leadership and volunteering opportunities
- Working towards the Chief Scout’s Platinum and Diamond Awards
- International Scouting — including Kandersteg and World Scout Jamborees
Leadership Pathway
Explorer Scouts who want to give back can become Young Leaders, supporting sections across the group. This is the beginning of an adult volunteering journey.
Meetings
Explorer Scouts meet every Tuesday. During winter terms meetings are held at our Headquarters on Yarmouth Road, Blofield. From Easter through to the end of the summer holidays, we move to our Brundall waterbase for longer evening sessions on the water.
| Period | Location | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Autumn & Winter terms | HQ, Blofield | 7:00–9:00pm |
| Easter to end of Summer holidays | Waterbase, Brundall | 6:00–9:00pm |
Moving On
At 18, Explorer Scouts can transition into adult volunteering and help shape the next generation.
